Thank you for visiting our store. National Testing Laboratories has been offering affordable testing for homeowners for the past 25 years. This often happen within the distribution system of the public water supply, so the amount of these by-products can vary depending upon the location of your home. . . . according to a long-term study done by the National Water Quality Assessment Program of the U.S. Geological Survey, man-made organic chemicals were detected in 60% of sampled wells. Water Testing for Private Wells We started out offering testing packages geared towards individuals on private wells. Since private wells are mostly unregulated (with the exception of some newer state regulations), it is up to the homeowner to ensure the safety of the water coming from the well. Most wells have been tested, however, they may have only been tested for bacteria. While bacteria presents an immediate health risk, other contaminants lurking in groundwater, like arsenic or uranium, can cause illness after exposure to small amounts over a long period of time. That is why it is important to have a comprehensive analysis done on the well water. A complete analysis will alert you to the presence of contaminants that do not cause foul odors, bad taste, or discolor the water. New Prodcuts Developed for City Water Last year we developed new testing packages geared towards those on city water. These testing packages include contaminants that are commonly found in municipal water such as disinfectants like chlorine and the byproducts that result. Some of these disinfection by-products are considered carcinogens by the Environmental Protection Agency. Even though the EPA regulates municipal drinking water systems, these systems can potentially contain chemicals that pose health risks. Having the water tested in your home will give you a complete picture of the water quality as it reaches your tap. This analysis will give you the information necessary to determine if further water treatment is warranted in your home. | ||
