Hazard Analysis of Critial Control Points:
HACCP based inspections scheduled to begin in 2001

Have you prepared a HACCP plan for your plant yet? The IBWA is scheduled to move to HACCP based inspections for all domestic plant audits in 2002. HACCP focuses on preventing hazards that could cause food-borne illnesses through application of science-based controls from raw material to final product. The FDA has established HACCP requirements for the seafood, meat and poultry industries and is implementing HACCP for fruit and vegetable juice production. The FDA intends to implement HACCP for all food commodities including bottled water in the coming years. For the last two years, the IBWA has presented training seminars to guide bottlers in designing and developing HACCP plans for their plants.

For more information on the above topics and more, visit the IBWA web site: www.bottledwater.org.
